Who We Are

Emergent Minds Lab (EML) is a youth-led initiative founded under the TO Youth Group with a mission to help young people better understand and responsibly navigate the rapidly evolving future shaped by artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.

Through professionally moderated panels, educational events, and intergenerational dialogue, EML connects students directly with leaders across healthcare, engineering, research, business, and technology. Our goal is to create meaningful spaces where young people can engage with real-world experts, ask critical questions, and develop both the technical awareness and ethical perspective necessary to shape the future responsibly.

Youth-Led, Youth-Driven

Students aren’t just participants. They lead, organize, and shape the conversation.

Reality Over Hype

We focus on what AI and digital transformation are actually doing to professions, not exaggerated fears or empty optimism.

Access to Real Voices

Learning is strongest when guided by practitioners with real-world experience and academics leading future innovation.

Global Perspective

We believe the future of work is shaped by local context, and our chapter model fosters locally relevant learning enriched by global exchange.

Curiosity with Responsibility

We encourage exploration while emphasizing ethical thinking, social impact, and long-term consequences.

Collaboration Over Competition

We build communities that share knowledge, formats, and best practices across chapters.

How It All Started

It began with us (sophomore Kaan and junior Demir) from the same school talking over a lunch break about professions and college applications. It stemmed from the same need we observed as students ourselves seeking guidance for our program selections during college applications. We realized there was a massive gap between what students were being told about their futures and what was actually happening in the real world. That need for genuine clarity, for real conversations with people doing the work, became the foundation of Emergent Minds Lab.
